Topic: Never had this happen before... (2 msgs / 42 lines)

Hi all,
It was another beautiful day here in Surf City, so at 11am this morning I
started my first 2lb batch of Jim Schulman's Plum Blend. As the batch was
approaching 1st crack, what sounded like 50 birds started "singing" from a
hedge that grows between my neighbor's house and mine! They were so loud
that I had a problem determining when 1st crack actually started! Once 1st
crack was over and I was awaiting the start of 2nd, the birds suddenly
stopped. After I finished the first batch, I started my second 2lb batch of
the Plum, and again right before 1st crack, the birds started singing! I
never did see any of the birds (the hedge grows on top of a six foot block
wall), but they did stop singing again before 2nd crack started. I may have
just stumbled on a way to notify me of the progress of my roasting without
actually having to be present. Let's see I need a couple of microphones...

I guess plum is for the birds (does that qualify me in the old
roaster stakes?).
Or maybe they prefer a lighter roast. A remake of Hitchcock's
"Birds" in a Starbucks would be interesting: "I'll have a venti,
semi-skinny, caramel, decaf latte." Flap, flap, splat.
