You have to really watch anything and everything that can be eaten or drank
in my house. I have a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Odie that will consume
anything he can get his doggie lip on. Warm frothed milk drinks have to be
especially guarded. In case anyone was wondering, yes, I also have a cat
named Garfield to go with the Odie.
Reminds me of a Larson FarSide cartoon. It was titled "how nervous little
dogs start their day". It showed a small dog in the kitchen standing on a
stool making coffee. I always got a kick out of that one.

Yep.
My Rhodesian Ridgeback cross tramples all in his path to finish off a cappa
- especially the crema left around the rim of the cup...
Occasionally he'll stoop to plunger (French press), but he really does
prefer his milk-based espresso drink!

I have noticed that any roasted beans get eaten as fast an they go to the
ground, if I spill a few when cooling and blowing chaff off. I try to be
careful as one of the dogs is only about 15 lbs. and another should be on
Haldol, not coffee.

Haven't had the problem of the dog eating the roasted beans, but he sure
likes the ritual of roasting.
He waked from the deepest sleep to come out and sit while I roast on the
back deck...

Our 18-lb cat still remembers being a tiny kitten and is a bit timid. He
doesn't like the noise of my Rosto so he leaves the sunroom when I roast (do
it out there so I can vent the smoke even in the coldest of winter without
chilling the whole house). Our 16-lb cat *loves* to help me roast. Of
course, his favorite part is that I'm supposed to take him outside in the
nice warm weather during the cool down. Being inside-only cats they don't
understand that it's not always as nice outside the sunroom as inside. By
'take him outside' I mean, he jumps in his soft-sided cat carrier and I'm
supposed to haul him around to look at things, especially things around the
corner. We used to let our cats outside on an occasional basis, but there
are just too many hazards out there, not to mention the fleas. Hairy, the
cat who likes to help roast, likes to help me do *everything*. Right now
he's sitting on his chair beside me as I read my email. Cats, as far as I
can tell, won't eat any dropped coffee beans but they will find them for you
and paw them back out from under things.
Enjoy!

I had a mixed breed cat that would drag my filter out of my drip machine
and out onto the floor. He loved to roll around in the grinds. I don't
think he ate much other than what he managed to get all over him. He
was a Chaussie. His father was an African Jungle cat (Felix Chaus,
hence the name Chaussie) and his mother was a Bengal. She was about 8%
Asian Leopard with the rest domestic. But that cat was insane I have to
admit. He lived up to his name; Loki.
Cheers,
Brian

My Springer Spaniel, Gabby, sits at perfect attention (never does that
otherwise) with his eyes glued to the floor just below the grinder hoping
not to miss the occasional dropping bean. Sometimes I let one drop on
purpose!

I have a Springer too! 4 Pugs and a Springer. Except for college, I have had a Springer all my life. Bubba is my 5th. He doesn't like coffee.
