I have been lurking here in the aroma laden shadows for better than a week
now. This is quite an active list and I have really enjoyed reading it. I
have been home roasting for about 5 years now, but mainly as a novelty not
as a passion. Truth is I have never produced a roast that was so great it
left me or guests screaming for more. Not that it was bad...just not great.
I use a Fresh Roast air roaster and played around with pan roasting as well
as popcorn machine roasting. I have a Bodum French press and the new Bodum
mini Santos. I grind with a burr grinder mostly which does better that the
whirling blade I find.
1. I have read about modified air poppers and Rostos, what modified Fresh
Roast machines? Particularly to slow it down. It goes from green to black
in nothing flat.
2. I am considering the new I-Roast, but am confused about a couple of
things. First, is it available or not? SM says not. The HW web site says
you can "Pre-order" one. If that is so, how come people on this list have
them? Next, when they are "really" available, are they going to have the
chaff problem resolved?
