Has anyone out there used a thermocouple on the hottop yet? Did you go in
from the bean chute or from the front with the probe wire?

Cliff,
Different folks have used different approaches. I go in through the bean
chute and you can see a photo of that on Rick Farris' web site at:http://www.big-rick.com/coffee/hottop.html. Just checked and it's still
there. After many moons, I'm still doing it this way with good
repeatability.

Notched the back of the bean chute cover and ran it down into the 
opening.   Subsequently bought a new cover without the notch and trust 
the machine now.
