<Snip> That's what I keep telling myself. Since I started fiddling around with home roasting just a couple months ago, I've bought a refurbished Caffe Rosto, a moka pot, and a Bodum vacuum pot. And I keep noticing that Starbucks is in their annual equipment sale right now -- whatever one thinks about their actual coffee, everything I've seen about their espresso machines indicates they're pretty solid, particularly when they're $100 off. My obsession with coffee was encouraged by my wife... she's a banker. Every morning before work I would stop at our local, neighborhood coffee house (O'Henry's in Homewood for those who are familiar with Birmingham) and get five shots with a little half/half to take with me to the radio station. One day my wife whipped out a calculator and did the math... nearly one hundred dollars a month to support my habit. A week or two later a LaPavoni appeared in our kitchen. Now, when I order greens I gently remind her how much a pound costs at O'Henry's and she's okay with it. What she doesn't know is that I'm probably drinking three times as much coffee. Especially when I roast up a batch of Brazilian Dulce that I recently received from SM. WOW... that stuff is wonderful!
