Topic: Moka pot questions (3 msgs / 43 lines)
1) From: TFisher511
I bought a Moka pot from Sweetmarias and have a couple of very basic
questions:
1) Is it preferably to use a drip type or espresso roast/blend coffee in the
Moka pot?
2) Same question about the grind, drip or fine like espresso?
Probably the type of questions one might ask b e f o r e someone bought a
Moka pot, but it's too late now.
Thanks,
Terry F

Hi.
The type of bean is your choice. I believe the espresso blend will give
you very good results. Also I use plain varietals and again the taste is
excellent.
For grind you can start with medium and then play from there. I grind a
bit on the fine side of medium but not as fine as espresso.
Also a thing I picked up somewhere on the internet, when I put the
coffee into the basket, I mound it, sort of like a conical shape. I
don't flatten or smooth it out nor do I tamp. The puck is beautifuly
formed when i go to dump it. Comes out great every time. Don't use too
high a heat.

Thanks Glenn,
I'm sure that will help a lot. I knew someone out there had to have
experience with about any possible way coffee can be ground and brewed.
