Topic: turkish eggs (6 msgs / 140 lines)

I made turkish eggs. Skins from 3-4 onions and
grounds from sm liquid amber, Bali Shinzan and Huila
decaf. Eggs slowly simmered for three hours in the
onion skins and coffee grounds took on a tan
appearance to the shell and the peeled eggs were a
lighter tan. I am afraid I could not really pick up
other than the egg taste, however. I do not claim to
have a very refined or sensitive sense of smell.

I recall from other similarly made eggs, it takes lightly cracking the
shells to allow the flavor in. None of the directions ever say that but it
has been my experience. Maybe I will put turkish eggs onto the PNWGII
appetizer menu.

I made the recipe that Barbara shared awhile ago for Easter Dinner. I made the Turkish eggs and the meatloaf. It was outstanding a nice smooth texture and good flavor. I took pictures of the eggs. I used PR Yacco grounds and red onion skins. The coffee flavor came through, with a hint of onion. I poked a very small hole in the top of the eggs. My timing was a bit off and I had to get up at 2:00 a.m. to finish them off. They were worth it! You can check out the pictures at www.thortamper.com/pageseven.

It should be good. I have a son on a special diet. We eat a lot of tofu around here. I bet it will work great! I think I would try a cold soak.
