Hi all. Newbies bob and lani here. Thank you for all of your input regarding
roasting. We are now on the search for a poppery I. We already have a poppery
II lined up, but from what we can glean from your posts, the "I" is better
than the "II." Have we interpreted that correctly?
Also, thanks for the info about the smoke. Now we know where we need to
roast..out in our garage with the door up slightly!!  We also learned about
resting the beans from your posts, and for that we are grateful as well.
We look forward to reading  and being a part of this list. Thank you for
making us feel so welcome.

I found that both the Poppery I and Poppery II do a good job
of roasting.

The big difference for me is that the Poppery I is capable of
doing bigger batches of beans.  That's a real time saver;
we
drink a lot of coffee.

Also, the Poppery I is easy to modify so that the fan
can be used for cooling.  That lets me do
non-stop
roasting/cooling for four consistent batches, which is
also a time saver.

Good luck in your Poppery I search.  It took several months
of rummaging for me to
find one, and I still haven't found my
back-up Poppery I.  There seem to be
a lot of Poppery II's
at the thrift stores.
