I just went through december archives as suggested and found all the
research on profiles you mentioned.
I mentioned the mod to the popper way prematurely. The switch allows a
quicker heat but that isn't necessarily beneficial.
Slowing the heat down at the correct time is preferable.
Apparently the profile to achieve is 75-350 in 4 minutes, 350 for four
minutes, and 350 to 500 in the last 8 minutes.
I am planning to create a computer program that adjust a temp switch to
stay on a profile. The profile just mentioned will be easy.
I know the PID will do this but I have software, an Allan Bradley
computer card controller, but no PID.
The question about profiles is what to use on each coffee. Since that
topic is being discussed now I will program the basics and wait on the
particulars. In the end I hope to drop in the correct profile and start
roasting.

Yes I see where I misunderstood, thanks for pointing that out Johnny.

I use a technique that Jim Schulman told us about with his fresh roast. He
posted here on the SM list, some time back.
I use it on my popper as well.
When 1st get going a bit, cut the power off and let it coast thru 1st. when
it slows or stops, cut the power on and proceed to 2nd. just as 2nd starts
cut the power off and let it coast to finish.
