I have been home roasting here in Mexico for several years now. I use =
arabica beans from the nearby mountains. I am roasting with a cafe =
rosto and grinding with a capresso grinder. Electric current presents a =
small problem or it could be my cafe rosto because to get what I call a =
full city or a light french roast I must vary the timer between 10 and =
12.
I clean my drip coffee maker, which is an eight year old black and =
decker spacemaker, about once a month. I first run through vinegar and =
then bicarbonate of soda. Thereafter I run through several batches of =
clear water.
As of about a week ago my coffee has tasted bitter. The bitter taste =
actually coming almost as an aftertaste.
Can anyone give me any words of wisdom here.

Bob,
That's a tough one to anwer. It could be a dozen things. My first
thought is the condition of the beans before roasting. The beans could
have become damp - or set in the sun and dried - or - or. The second
thought would be the voltage to the CR has dropped and the roaster
isn't as hot - and you are subsequently under-roasting. And the last
thought is - when was the last time you really cleaned the grinder?
Grinding coffee leaves a fine oil behind - which over time becomes
rancid and tastes aweful.
Where do you get your beans - several mountains near you.

Good guesses, but don't forget the various posts like this over
the years that ended up being resolved when the person with the
unexplainably bitter beans just had a cold or the flue, and all
was normal shortly thereafter.
