Topic: Thanks to Tom and Maria (9 msgs / 341 lines)
1) From: Mark Tosiello
Hi,
I just wanted to add my voice to the many that thank Tom and Maria for their
magnificent service to our community. The time and effort they put out to
maintain this list, maintain relationships with customers, and to maintain
the most essential and exemplary source for all things coffee
(www.sweetmarias.com, of course) is more than appreciated by the community
here on this list, and I wanted to be sure they knew just how valuable a
resource they are. If it's a coffee product, and SweetMarias carries it, I
will not purchase it anywhere else. Their service, and their willingness to
help in times of problems, are second to none. The community of coffee
enthusiasts owe them more than we realize!!!
Bravo, Tom and Maria!!!

You are absolutely correct. I hope that Tom and Maria will never think
that we take them for granted. The ease with which we get the goodies
for our roasting from Sweet Maria's adds so much to our enjoyment of
the whole process. So thanks again,
Barbara

I could not agree more with your comments. The efforts they put in are way
above what they have time for running their business as well. I also buy
everything I can from Tom and Maria be it for myself or items for gifts.
All those who love my coffee also get an email with the site and my
comments about their service as well as the mention that they can order
fresh roasted from Tom until they decide they want to try out roasting for
themselves.

I would like to add my appreciation also. I certainly would not be roasting my own coffee if it were not for Tom, Maria, and the members on this list. I was merely shopping for CR Tarrazu, pre-roasted! Now I can never go back to canned (and don't want to)!

Nodding in agreement. SM is an example of a "well balanced"
business that should endure through thick and thin. There is a
balance in any business between the need to pay this month's
bills verses building up enough goodwill to pay tomorrow's bills
with near certainty! A happy customer base is the foundation that
underpins a long term successful business, and I applaud Tom
and Maria for doing a fine job. This comes much easier if you
love what you do for a living. I'm sure the Zen fans will
agree with all this.. :)
I'm now considering the purchase of a MM from SM and the only
thing I haven't purchased from them lately was a Thor tamper
which I can hardly wait to hold.
I first heard of Sweet Marias from coffeegeek.com so I guess it
is only fair to give that site kudos for steering me in the
right direction to begin with! ;)
Also you should all give yourselves a pat on the back for your
participation in the roasting community. Each element is so
important and builds upon the other. Simply put, coffee is
better because of you.
Good Beans + Good Clue = Good Shots!
Bad Beans + Good Clue = Bad Shots!
Good Beans + Bad Clue = Bad Shots!
Bad Beans + Bad Clue = Really Bad Shots! (cattle boat operators)
If you know what I mean.... I'm sorry if I'm always down
on the "cattle boat operators" but IMO these folks are supposed
to be the professionals! (doing it for money) And they are
supposed to take the time to do things right when they charge
as much for a "speciality" coffee drink as a whole pack of
cigarettes or even a combo lunch at a drive thru. I bet Ed
knows what I mean this weekend. ;-)

I will put a big ditto after Ginny's comments and add one note. Tom
and Maria put in many extra hours doing all the things it takes to get
us the great coffees we roast and drink. I am often irritated with
people who come to the list and after a week or two, sometimes even
less, and start telling Tom and Maria to put more time into
reorganizing the list or redesigning the web site or do all kinds of
other things that would take time away from the tasks that are crucial
to finding, tasting, ordering, writing up descriptions, and fulfilling
our orders. There is an exceptional amount of high expertise and
dedicated service that goes into providing us these coffees. Some
boats don't need to be rocked.

Here's another "ditto". Apart from having the best greens and incredible
variety, SM's has tons of information. I don't know if I ever would have
tried roasting had it not been for the tip sheet on using poppers that
showed a simple and inexpensive way to try it out. It's great to deal with
folks who clearly care both about their business and their customers.
