Topic: Tracking UPS, really (10 msgs / 226 lines)
1) From: Andy Thomas
Just checked the UPS tracking page for my latest Sweet
Maria's order. (Am I the only one who always tracks
his SM order from town to town? I don't do that with
any other item that I order.) Anyway, I just spent a
day in Portland OR, and discovered my greens were in
Portland at the same time. Then they arrived in
Hermiston OR about 2 hours after I drove past that
town. And there they will stay until tomorrow's
scheduled delivery, unless something goes horribly
wrong. So close, and yet so far.

Andy,
You are in a LARGE crowd of trackers. Its a part of this obsession. I
had my last order shipped USPO Express Mail just to see if it will beat
the 5 business day trip with Brown. The USPO tracking site is a thrill,
it will next post progress when I've signed for it. Now that's a big
help.

I always track my packages online, but I don't think I've ever stalked the UPS truck... You should probably seek professional help, Andy

What always amazes me is how fast packages get to Chicago, and then how long it takes for them to get to me in the 'burbs. A recent delivery made it from CA to Chicago overnight, and then sat in the UPS Hodgkins sorting facility for two days before going on to the truck for delivery...

Hodgkins, IL. Yes. The black hole of the UPS system. Anytime I order
anything from the east, it moves TO Hodgkins very fast, usually in a day or
so. But then, anything out of Hodgkins, just sits there and then takes 3 or
4 days to get to Utah.

And I thought that only my packages vacationed in Hodgkins, IL.
UPS can move a package through Salt Lake City and on to Skull Valley, =
UT, rather quickly compared to FedEX which usually takes three or four =
days to move a package from Salt Lake City to Skull Valley.
Worse yet, we get US Postal Service mail only twice a week.
Such is the price of living without close neighbors.

I did seek professional help, Ron. Like I said, it
should arrive tomorrow :-).
Anyway, Brown was stalking me, at least on the
Portland-to-Hermiston leg of the trip.

I always track mine also. I'm always so impatient. Living in Michigan, it always seems to take so long. With standard ground, it takes 5 business days in UPS' hands, plus the time for SM to pack and ship, so I can't ever get it in less than a week unless I pay extra. It's always having to go through a weekend that is the killer for me!

Yep,
My order will leave Jackson MS in the morning and will arrive
Tuesday, probably while I am taking my granddaughter to horse riding
lessons.

I usually check on my SM orders daily. Only pipes and tobaccos get similar
obsessive-compulsive attention.
