Wow - that's c-c-c-cold! We are at exactly 100F and the heat index is
104F. Our lows are higher than your highs!

Yehhhh, It's way to cold here. We seem to have colder weather all the time. It's beautiful, but the summers are just to short! Here we are in the last 1/2 of June and for the most part, it's in the 60's everyday (or 50's). The kids walk down to West Grand Traverse Bay (Lake Michigan) nearly every day as we are only 3 or 4 blocks away, buts its way to cold to swim yet. I'm waiting for the day where we can live here by the bay in the summer and somewhere warm in the winter (maybe CR!) Oh well, at least it's sunny and dry today!

Texas sounds pretty nice - never been there, or really anywhere west, or south - except for my wonderful trip to Costa Rica last year! Lived in the Bahamas (Abaco) when I was a kid (little), but haven't even been to Florida in 20 years. I really think I need to get out more!

Thanks for giving me one more reminder-as if I needed it-of why I don't miss
living up north!

Of course, as the song goes, there's miles and miles and miles of Texas,
with great variations in climate and culture and topography. I like Central
Texas and love our property, but I wish that both the winters and summers
were more temperate and that some large body of water was closer. We'd
talked about retiring to the last coast of Florida, but now that "early
retirement" has happened, that ain't gonna happen and I'm really very Crappy
heat-sure beats pretty much everywhere else I've lived (various Wisconsin
towns and cities, Kissimmee and Tallahassee in Florida, Toronto, Montreal,
and New Orleans).
