Topic: unconventional way to obtain ISH (22 lines)
1) From: Jeffrey Pawlan
I am an amateur radio operator and have spoken to almost all the countries and
islands in the world, including St Helena and Ascension Island. A friend of mine
works half the year on Ascension for the US govt maintaining a tracking station
and communications equipment. He therefore has his own house on that island.
Before he left to go there around 6 months ago, I asked him whether coffee was
grown on Ascension or whether he could get some from St Helena. He said he would
try. Ascension is located at 7deg 56'S, 14 deg 22' W which is 750 miles from St
Helena. They do not grow coffee there. But fortunately for me, the owner of the
St Helena coffee estates, David Henry, visits Ascension island and he stayed as
a guest at my friends's house. So the topic came up about getting green beans and
did send a bag when he returned to St Helena. They have now made they way
to me and I have 495g of beans that are labelled as an estate name which does
not appear on the St Helena coffee website. It is called Rosemary Estate. Does
anyone out there know about this estate? The label gives the same information as
other ISH coffees with a POB and "South Atlantic Ocean".
