I used several sizes of SM bags to test the food saver with and not one
will suck up the air or seal the dog bone.
I guess it has to do with the ripples on the vac bags? A guess only.
I do have a sealer I got from a company in CA that will seal most
plastic/foil bags, it does not vac seal, simply seals them.

Hi Gin,
Perhaps I wasn't clear. I was not talking about using a ziploc bag in the bag sealer. I mean closing the pouch normally then putting the manually closed pouch in a FoodSaver canister (or the marinater). Then, vacuum packing the canister.Since the valve on the SM bags are one way, removing air from the canister would also remove the air from the pouch. I would leave the pouch in the vacuumed canister for a while (a few minutes) before break the canister's seal just to give time for the air to leave the pouch.
Is this what you did?
