I'm planning to make a pilgrimage(or is this not polically correct word, =
like crusade) to Emeryville towards the end of Sept and would like to =
know if anyone on the list has visited Tom and Maria. I'm thinking =
that it's not set up as a retail establishment but would like to pick =
some roasted coffee for daughter who owns a restaurant in SF, or =
experience a cupping, a few kilos of green beans to import to Texas.
I'm gotten tentative ok from Maria and will write to them directly but =
what might expect, week day office hours, Saturdays?
Best regards
JOE

Joe,

From the SM website, I believe their "store" is open weekdays only and
only in the morning. At least those are the times when you can pick up
orders per the website. I'm hoping to make my first "cuprimage" to the
store the end of this month, too. Whether or not they make exceptions
for people coming to pay homage is outside of my ken.

Hope you have a great trip!
Brent

Hi Joe - no Saturdays! Can you make it during the week? You are right
it is a warehouse and we do have a "no retail" sign on the door right
now. This is mainly due to the SF Chronicle article from a month back
that sent a lot of people our way. This is a good thing in a way, and
not. When people show up and expect you are going to explain roasting
to them, they are going to be disappointed. They need to read up on
it, so we try to have everyone place orders through the web and then
just pick them up. But we always do the best we can with unexpected
guests! Our new place (yes, we are moving about 15 blocks away, but
it is going to take 6 months at least to do so) is going to have a
better set up, and actually I hope to have a real sizable lab that
can host some small cupping groups! Anyway, the signs are to make
people aware that we aren't a store really, and that we are busy, but
always welcoming.
Tom

Thanks Tom. I'm going for a 3 day bus meeting in SF (Wed,Thus,Fri) but if
you can accomodate a short visit on Friday PM , I'll pick up my order on my
way to Richmond (on that side of the bay where daughter lives.

SM is moving 15 blocks?!?!?
Hmmm... right now I live 3.6 miles away (according to Yahoo maps.)
Are you saying you may be moving to within TWO MILES of my home?!?!?
Dare I dream?
No, "dream" isn't the right word... if you're that close, I probably
won't be sleeping much!
So little time, so much coffee!!!

Well, they could be going the other direction, in which case they would
be over 5 miles away, or would that put them in the bay?
