I couldn't keep up with my FR+. I kept reading all the posts a while back about HGDB roasting so I finally stopped in the pet store and bought a beautiful 640z dog bowl (its embossed with cute little dog bones and and paw prints) then went home and swiped my husbands heat gun! I have to admit
I was a bit skeptic, so I tried 1/2 lb of UGH to get the hang of it. I used a wooden spoon for stirring. I can't believe how nice and even this roast turned out! After that, I roasted 1/2 pound of Guatemalan Fraijanes - Palo Alto Azul. First crack occurred at 12 minutes and I stopped the roast at the first few snaps of second which was at 16 minutes. It sure looks and smells good. I can't wait to try it. The only problem is what to do when it's to cold to roast outside. It sure will be hard to go back to the FR+ for the majority of my roasting. It's just to small! Thanks for all the recent info on this method! Sue

Sue,
You must be smelling my roasts from your location in TC! I'm HGDB roasting
all the time now. I'm gonna build a "roasting station" in the garage so
that I can still roast this way during the TC winter (you know, like now
thru June). I am going to build a shopvac cooler, but to be honest, in the
winter, we just have to stick the bowl out the window for a couple of
seconds to freeze-cool the beans!
Truthfully, I LOVE this method. Got my 32/64oz bowls from PetSmart over by
Home Depot.

Hi Mark,

Yeh, the winds must be blowing into town! What a wonderful way to roast! Your roasting station sounds great! I have a detached, unheated garage. I don't think I could take it very long out there even if the beans could! I have Lupus, with Raynauds, and I can hardly take this cool summer we've been having! I guess I'll have to go roast in Costa Rica or something like that! Anyway, I got my lovely bowl at PetSmart also. My husband complained that I wasn't getting the cheapest dog bowl, then I reminded him how much a Hottop costs and he was ok with it!

Hi Sue,
Yeah, that's a tough combination to deal with in the cold. I don't know
what we're going to do with this weather up here.....oh well, better take my
mind off of it and hit Tom and Maria up for some more greens......
It's 1:30am and the evil Tea and Mini are eyeing me from the corner.....

Geeeez that sounds good! I'm sitting here thinking about inventorying my greens. I just got a order from SM last week, sampled some of them, and want more! Especially the Panama "Leru." That really is a good one. What I really need to do is go to bed, were supposed to take the kids to MI Aventure in the am. That is, if it's going to warm up enough! Sue
