Topic: Mr. Coffee and plastic taste... an update (4 msgs / 86 lines)
1) From: Paul Goelz
Hmmm.....
I got the customer service number for Mr. Coffee and on a whim I called
them. The person I spoke to said that they had no similar complaints....
and then said they would send me a brand new coffee maker. Wonder wazzup
with that? "No, yours is the first complaint we have heard.... but here is
a free coffee machine anyway".

Maybe (I hate to think well of anyone, but...) they just have really
good customer service. In real terms it costs them next to nothing to
replace your machine.

I was prepared for the worst. The person I spoke with had a hard time
speaking and I didn't get the impression she had any coffee knowledge. But
although she claimed total ignorance on the issue, she immediately proposed
a surprising solution. I am not sure about the wisdom of a solution that
involves replacing a smelly machine with one that I am sure will be even
more smelly (because it will be brand new). But who knows.... maybe they
had a run of smelly plastic and are simply not willing to admit it. I
really have NEVER had this level of taste coloration with any plastic food
appliance up to now.
