Just out of curiosity...has anyone besides me had a sudden upsurge in the
amount of Spam arriving in their mailbox in the last few days? I swear, the
amount I'm getting has tripled, at least.

Not really. And speaking of Spam, did you know Hawaiians eat more Spam per
capita than people in any other State?

Are you getting this pair of headers every 15 minutes, like I am?
Re:vbdial, get out of the rat race
     why not Steve Doty
I put the message with full headers into www.spamcop.com, and was told
where to send the complaint message.
I've done that, but don't really know if that will accomplish anything.

Blue can of steel
what promise do you hold?
Salt flesh, so ripe.
Can of metal, slick
Soft center, so cool, moistening
I yearn for your salt
Silent, former pig
one communal awareness
myriad pink bricks.
Clad in metal, proud
no mere salt-curing for you
You are not bacon.
Twist, pull the sharp lid
jerks and cuts me deeply but
Spam, ah my poultice.
And who dares mock Spam?
You? You? You are not worthy
of one rich pink fleck.
Pink tender morsel
glistening with salty gel
What the hell is it?
Oh tin of pink meat
I ponder what you may be:
snout or ear or feet?
Ears, snouts and innards
a homogeneous mass
pass another slice.
Little slab of meat
in a wash of clear jelly.
Now I heat the pan.
In the cool morning
I fry up a piece of Spam
A dog barks next door.
Like some spongy rock -
granite, my piece of Spam in
sunlight on my plate.
Old man seeks doctor
'I eat spam daily,' he says.
Angioplasty.
Pink beefy temptress
I can no longer remain
Vegetarian.

Lovely sentiment, Deward...
I'm not a big fan of spam (the food product or the unwanted e-mail), but
I did have a chance to visit the Spam Museum in Austin, Minnesota a
couple of years ago. If anyone is in the area (South of Minneapolis,
along I-90), I recommend the stop. Its very well done, and a lot of fun.

I shut down my personal domain about three weeks ago. I was getting
20 to 30 an hour on week-ends. I have opened several Google mail
accounts - this one for the coffee list - another for the rest of the
world and a third just for family.
What amazes me is that I have NEVER used my Direcway account Except
to tell family the domain server was off-line. In the past week I've
received 25 pieces of spam on that account!! They all take the form
"Re: [2]" where the number changes. The sender is different for most
of them. And good old Direcway (the most expensive way to the
Internet) doesn't offer any spam filtering!
