Why are adjustments made to a grinder while grinding beans? Is this the =
same
for large commercial models?

I didn't see any replys on this post. Maybe I missed them.
I have found that going coarser with the grinder is ok even if it is not
running. The problem comes when you want to go finer, it is always best to
adjust finer with the burrs rotating. Beans can get caught between the burrs
and adjusting with a bean or two stuck between the burrs makes it hard or
impossible to adjust. Also if you do manage to crush the bean abit,
(adjusting with the motor off) it still could stall the motor, on start up,
and cause some damage to the motor. It is even possible to damage the burrs
if you are set real fine to begin with and the upper burr holder is not real
stable or has some play in it. So just throw a scoop of beans in and then
adjust the grinder. Its better to be safe then sorry.
