Topic: The Gods - "West Bend Hot Air Corn Popper" (4 msgs / 105 lines)

Coincidentally, I bought a "West Bend Hot Air Corn Popper" (not a PI or a
PII) just today in the local thrift store for $2. Sounds exactly like Brent
described. On the bottom it says it is made in USA. It has the same general
shape as a PII, but it is even more light-weight.

Brian,
Congrats! I think this is one of the ugliest poppers I've seen. If
looks are important, that is. Not that I'm judging, . . . .
I'd be interested in hearing your experience with the aqua popper. I'm
not completely thrilled with it as a roaster. The fan is really loud
and strong, and I wonder if the guts aren't the same as the Poppery 1s
(at least from what other list members have said about them).
No matter what I did, I never got to second crack (tried several
different beans, different amounts, indoors, outdoors, you get the
picture). That being said, the roast of Sidamo that I did and took to
10 minutes actually gave me a really flavorful cuppa coffee. Plus I
really like that you can tilt this one (nearly on its side) without the
top coming off and the on/off switch. It's kinda like the runt of the
WestBend litter! :)
Let us know how this works for you.
Brent

Actually, I was going to add this popper to the cabinet full of poppers
that i don't use.... My stash is too low right now to experiment, but I am
ordering more greens today, and when they arrive I will try out the new
popper, and let you all know how it goes.

Brent,
I looked at my $2 West Bend Hot Air Popper again last night and it is
round, like yours, but no switch, and its white. The specs are the same as
yours, though. I turned it on and the fan doesn't seem to be stronger than
on the Poppery II. I will give it a try when I get my new greens ordered
and delivered.
