I headed out of town for the holiday. I'd left beans in the hopper, and had a batch in a valve bag on my bar. Last night I decided to make a baileys and espresso. I figured I'd give the beans in the hopper a shot, since it was going to be mixed anyway. I've gotten really used to seeing crema from my krups novo 3000. It came out black. No crema at all. Just black. It was like instant coffee was in the portafilter. I dumped it and tossed in the stuff I'd stored in a valve bag. The crema came back, not as much as from a 12-24 hour rest, but at least it was there. It's one thing to read how fresh roasting makes a difference, it's another to see the evidence pouring from your espresso machine. Will |
