Roasted another batch today with my Turbo Beast. Ambient temp was 48F
and raining, slight wind.
Preheated to 400F. Dumped in 550 Gr while stirring, and the temp cooled
to 310F before it started upward again.
This time I let it go to 475F before I stopped the heater and let it run
several seconds at that temp.. rolling second crack.
Could not see the beans as there was so much smoke. Blew the smoke away
with the hair dryer, and lots of chaff with it. Tried to cool down more
slowly this time, and it took about 3 minutes until I could scoop out
the beans with my hand.. a little warm, not hot. Total time about 11
minutes from putting in the beans until I scooped them out. Slight oily
Weighed them and wound up with 490 Gr. All roasted very evenly.
The resulting volume was about a third of the way up the roasting bowl.
When it was mixing at the end I could still see the bottom of the bowl
because the stirrer kicks the beans about half way up the sides.
Seems like I could put some kind of a ramp in to throw the beans across
the center of the bowl, but they roast evenly now.
