Well folks the news isn't good. Alfred had a cancer related stroke.
He can't eat. They have given him a very short time to live. I am
going to see him tomarrow. (It feels a bit too much like work I was a
full time Hospice Chaplain for 6 years and continue part-time in that
role as the Director of the Dept.) He is suppose to go home on
Hospice on Monday. He can't talk very well either.
His address for cards is
Alfred Schleunes
604 Deer Park Lane
Shady Cove, OR 97539
Les
Dr. Crema (Alfred gave me that title!)

Les,
Thanks for being there to help us connect. I've never been very
good at this kind of thing. Any ideas about things he would like?

Les, you are an amazing man. Alfred is lucky to have made your
friendship. As far as you know, does short time mean days or weeks?
How very sad. You can tell him how glad we all are that he had the time
to really get good at this hobby of ours. I know it brought him great
joy. And I remember him awarding you your doctorate.

Pecan,
A kind word in a card would be great. Elizabeth said he still has his
fine wit and humor he just can't express himself due to the stroke.

Alfred is a fighter, and has faced this life and death situation before, he
told me that one should never give up.
and I'm sure he has not. We all have our appointed time, and this may very
well be Alfred's, I hope not, he is a wonderful man and his wit and his
comments on this list have been so nice to read.
Thanks Les.
