My 5# of the Kona Cupping Comp lot arrived today. Roasted a half pounder
this evening. From the smell of 1st developing it's going to be very very
good indeed. The roasting aroma simply divine. The post munch of a couple
beans further confirmed. But alas, gonna let it rest a couple days to fully
develop the flavor nuances. But that's ok, I'll "get by" with the last Kona
I roasted 'till then, TKC&C (last years comp winner) just hit 3 days rest
and will hold me over quit nicely, today finished last of roast batch Kona
Premium Coffee Co Kona. I'll roast batches of the comp' lot and later crop
to compare cup to cup later. (got 5# of it too.)
At one point I'd decided not to get any of this year's competition winners
do to still in "stash reduction" mode - now down to back up to 159# with 77#
of it Kona. (includes the 10# two lots Moki). Then last week changed my
mind. Over sized stash and getting laid of be danged. Alas, too late to get
any from Layfette Farm, out for the season.
If you've never tried Kona and always wanted to, or have but don't buy it
often, or buy it often and think you have plenty Kona on hand, buy some Moki
regardless. Just do it, don't think about or it might slip away. This Moki
is some of the best if not the best Kona Tom has ever been able to carry
IMO.
