Hey folks
The USBC is being held next week in Seattle. It's open to the public
and it's free. If you're in the area, you should surely attend.
Thurs 10 March, Fri 11 March - qualifiers (starting at 9am)
Sat 12 March - semi-finals (also starting at 9am)
Sun 13 March - finals (starting at 10am)
It's at the old Seattle Temporary Library (corner of 8th and Pike).
Your chance to see some incredible coffee drinks and some rockstar baristas.

Hey AlChemist, are you?! Competing is open to anyone regardless of SCAA
membership or professional status. (or was, likely too late to enter now)
You'd really need to know your stuff, be inventive, and be fast at it, and
with style of course. Prepare 4 of each: an espresso, cap' and your own
original specialty drink creation for 4 judges in 15 minutes time.http://www.scaa.org/about_usbc.aspI've been to one Regional competition and it was a blast to watch. Should be
also noted that the World's is at and during the SCAA Conference in April.
Now here's another one that would be fun to attend, The 1st Annual Hawaii
Barista Jam in July during the Hawaii Coffee Association Conference.http://www.scaa.org/events_article.asp?article_id6776901Kona Konnaisseur miKe mcKoffee

I was going to be judging actually.
Sadly, I can't do so because of my leg.
Instead I'll just be spectating this time.

Are you kidding - I would not even consider it. I could do the espresso,
although not fast. I have never made a cap in my life - I don't know how
to steam or froth milk. As for the speciality drink - it would have to be
cocoa based ;-)
Now a roasting competition - That would be cool and I would love to compete
in that - never seen one though.
