An interesting aspect of this website is the persistence of myth.  You will 
read there about the deadly dangers of roasting coffee with any kind of 
popper where the hot air blows from the bottom.  And yet my Melitta 
Aromaroast is built that way on purpose.  Perhaps the *real* reason they 
took the Aromoaroast off the market was that it was burning everyones 
kitchen counters down...

You can get these at BB and Beyond. I think they run about $20
compared to the Toastmaster $15. I actually used one for a while. I
finally decided that the Toastmaster had more "horsepower" for lack of
a better word. They are both 1200W but the TM seems to move the air
and beans better. Also the Rival didn't have a power switch. and it's
taller, so seeing what's going on inside when it's sitting on the
counter is hard. Then there's the plastic top which is not as stable
at high temperatures as the on on the TM.
I eventually burned mine up...

thanks for the info... it is a decent looking machine... maybe a variac 
on it or way to power-up the fan might be nice... but then again...  
maybe toastmaster is perfect! lol I bought one for my friend in canada 
(toastmaster) and she LOVES IT!!!
