Topic: New Hottop Panel (2 msgs / 60 lines)
1) From: McConnel
About six weeks ago I called HOTTOPUSA and talked w/Michael about
intermittently unresponsive pushbuttons on the control panel. He gave me the
option of buying a (new) old-style panel or a new model with the LED
display.
It cost $100 and seemed to fix my problem. It is more user-friendly in that
one no longer selects a "roast level" but rather a time from 17 to 21
minutes. That timer begins after the final warm-up beep ends providing a
count-down to EOR.
There is also a Temp button which indicates a "temperature" which, like the
I-Roast is not the temperature of the bean mass, but rather, I guess the
temperature of the sensor on the back wall. In comparing it with my
thermocouple probe, it varies up to 60 degrees celsius (yeah, it's in
celsius) over the course of the roast. It's a nice idea, but I don't find it
to be as useful as the thermocouple.
I do like it better.

Well, I ordered mine this morning. Will report back when I've tried it a
bit. Thanks for the additional info.
