Topic: That Creeping CRUD has got me! (14 msgs / 226 lines)
1) From: Mark Tosiello
Hi all,
Well, I'm just having a fit. After thinking that perhaps I dodged a
bullet and didn't get my standard spring cold, boy was I wrong. In just
2 days I'm now hacking, sneezing, running, blowing and complaining. The
worst part about this whole thing is that, as usual, I've lost my sense
of smell and TASTE, and coffee is now just so much salty hot water.
I can't tell you how much this irritates me. Anyone else in the same
boat?
Well, I feel better now having told my troubles to friends who would be
as aghast as I am at the prospect.
Oh, well, at least I can still TALK about coffee...and roast it for
others.....mmm...now THAT's hard to do.

Sorry to hear it Mark. Loosing coffees appeal is when you know you're really
sick.

Sorry to hear you are ill Mark. I recommend you take some goofy new
age product, drink lots of fluids and get lots of rest and it will be
gone in about two weeks. Jared

Mark, Sorry to hear you're feeling so poorly! I have it also, seems
half of Traverse City does right now! I lost my voice completely for a
couple of days! I'm still having trouble with taste and smell also
and it's really, really, really frustrating since I finally have an
espresso machine! Wishing for a speedy recovery for you, and me as
well!

I'd recommend zinc lozenges to reduce the duration of the
cold but they'll cause you to taste nothing but zinc. Yechh, they
are gross.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

And prepare yourself for horrible tasting coffee! I couldn't enjoy
coffee or cilantro after taking zinc.
John - preferring zinc to drugs any day!

If you catch the bug early "Airport" can stop it.

Hopefully, its not the actual flu. If it, the cough will last much
longer than the rest of it. Fluids, fluids, fluids, echinacea, vitamin
c, fluids, fluids. Take care.

HI,
Thanks for all the well wishes! I've been on Zinc nose gel for a while
now, and I find it does reduce the duration of the cold. I can pretend
to almost taste stuff now, but not coffee. Sue, I know, half of the
city seems to have it...how irritating. It's not the flu, but it still
stinks.
I remember something I used to tell my patients about their colds while
I was writing their scripts for stuff..."Remember the important thing
about colds...if I treat you it'll be gone in 2 weeks, but if I don't,
it'll take 14 days....."
Mark
