If you want to make some really horrific looking pancakes, add grape jelly
to your recipe. (Two parts grape jelly, two parts water, 5 parts dry mix.)
The nice purple color of the jelly turns to the most disgusting shade of
blue-green-grey. And to top it off, the batter has the consistency of slime.
The grape flavor is unaffected and the cakes cook normally except for a dark
crispy crust from the extra sugar in the jelly. This is real, no April fool.
Ground coffee makes a good addition to pancakes. Add 1/2 part of turkish
grind to 5 parts dry mix. Very nice taste, but a "dirty" speckled appearance
to the finished cakes.
