Mammatus clouds:
Mammatus most frequently form as cold saturated air sinks on the underside
of a cumulonimbus. The saturated air warms as it sinks, the liquid
evaporates and the ice particles melt in characteristically rounded shapes.http://www.gothamist.com/weather/archives/2004/05/25/mamma_ooo.phpKeeping it coffee related....Harar is a tricky bean for me. My first
couple of roasts I found it bitter and tough, but I loved a couple of fruity
Yirgacheffe roasts I did. Now I have roast of Harar and Yirgacheffe
post-rest where the Yirg is bitter, but the Harar is excellent.

Gee Dennis - I would have taken those pictures out of my car's rear
window! That is definitely leave home clouds! I'm remembering the scene
from Independence where the mother ship pushes through boiling flaming
clouds - and - well - RUN DENNIS - RUN!!!

Mike, don't fall for this cheap sensationalism. It's obvious he
spray-painted some cotton balls and glued them to his ceiling, then used
Photoshop to doctor them up ... B-)

Hey Dennis - we're getting that weather as I type - so far just four
tornado warnings and another line of storms knocking on the door...
Keeping it list related - I'm modifying a popper as the weather moves
through - they are getting more difficult to find here in the
Birmingham area. I'm headed to Charlotte (Belmont) this weekend to
look at some houses and interview for job- I plan to hit a few thrift
stores while there. Maybe I need to be getting the travel gear
ready...

Great pics man! The five years I spent in St Louis, I saw some
tornadoes, none too close thank my Lord. Saw some spectacular clouds,
but not like those. If I saw those here in VA, I'd be heading for the
mountains as quick as my feet would carry.

Living in florida I get to see my share of nasty thunderstorms. but
nothing will ever come close to an Okie ternader. I got to see plenty
of waterspouts when I was stationed in the Keys, been through a few
tornados... don't need to say.... how many hurricanes. but yean those
are good pics.
Yeah, im one of those idiots who'd stand outside in a lightning storm to
get a better look at it....
