Well, I just installed a switch in my Wearever Popcorn Pumper and it =
worked well considering I know absolutely nothing about electricity. =
Anyway, I put in a 600watt dimmer switch directly into the motor so that =
it not only controls the heater, but also the fan at the same. I =
figured it would be a little easier to figure out. After using it the =
first time, I felt the switch and it was HOT!! I guess that is what I =
get for using a 600watt switch on a 1250 watt machine. (duhh) Well =
needless to say, it doesn't work as I planned it to. It did slow the =
warm up time considerably. It took about 5 minutes to hear the very =
first hint of crack @ around 300 degrees. The only problem was that it =
wouldn't really go over 315 degrees. (I guess that was because of the =
switch) So, I let the beans roast at 315 for about 7 or 8 minutes while =
i was warming up my Poppery right next to me. I quickly poured the =
beans into the warmed up Poppery and roasted for about 3 minutes @ 390 =
to 400 degrees. So, in the end I had a pretty nice looking city+/F.C. =
Kenya to put in a jar for a day or so. Has anyone done this before. =
BTW, I've noticed, that with an extension cord, I cant really get above =
405 and rarley get into second crack. Is the reason actually because of =
the cord, or something else.
