Topic: Thermos Nissan Travel Mug Issue (2 msgs / 39 lines)
1) From:
All,
I have a Thermos Nissan Travel mug that worked very well until a month ago. On this model there is an O-ring around the lid that makes if leak proof which works beautifully but this ring also collects "crud" around and under itself. To clean the O-ring I have to remove it and it finally broke. I called the Nissan customer support and found out that a replacement part is not available. However, Nissan would replace the entire mug under warranty. While it is nice to get a new mug what will happen once the mug is out of warranty. Perhaps I am cleaning the mug wrong, if anyone has ideas feel free to share.

David,
My only recommendation would be that you don't put it in the dishwasher, i=
f
that's a factor. I have a similar mug with a rounded O-ring and have only=

used warm, soapy water to clean it. Haven't had any problems with it in 3=

years. Dishwasher detergent is much harsher than liquid dish soap.
Otherwise, I wash it whenever it gets used and have had no problems. You=

might be able to find a replacement O-ring at a hardware store or plumbing=

supply place, too.
