Hi all. I've looked around on the net and the archives for user info on manual espresso machines. There isn't a lot out there. Some incidental stuff, some short somewhat-useful reviews. I would like to consider the manual espresso machines before making a final decision. Does anyone out there use the manual lever machines (not the spring assisted)? What do you think? How do they compare (ease of use, quality of espresso, problems) with the semi-automatics, other than price? Are the lever machines fussier? Since I tend to be more involved with the roasting process using the SC/TO, the idea of being more involved in the making of the espresso has a certain appeal. And since it probably wouldn't be used more than 3-4 times a day most of the time, muscle fatigue shouldn't be a problem. :) Any thoughts or leads are really appreciated. Thank you. -- Brent Roasting in an SC/TO For Coffee |

What's manual? I cannot imagine blowing hot water through a pipe with just my lungs for pressure - and what would I use for a coffee-grounds holder anyway? Then there's the concept of holding the boiling water in your mouth - and where to put the thermometer to get an accurate reading? Mind boggling, I'll stay with Miss Silvia...
