Topic: Unfiltered coffee: American Study (32 lines)
1) From: JKG
In looking for updated material, I came across this
summary of a more recent study done in the U.S.
and published on Feb 15th this year in the American
Journal of Epidemiology. The John Hopkins study
involved a review of 14 previously published studies
that looked at the relationship between coffee consumption
and raised levels of cholesterol .http://www.clinnix.net/news/archive/020301/story1.htmThe text from the study does not appear to be available
without a subscription. I'm sure it's available at most
medical school libraries for anyone with a high level of
interest. I'm betting it provides a good overview from
a scientific/medical perspective.
To me, all of this confirms my general philosophy that
moderation is a good thing. It will be interesting if
they do a follow-up study with lower consumption and
arabica beans. I don't see anything like that yet. Until
then, my Cory rods and french press will continue to
receive use for my 2-3 cups per day. But then I'm blessed
with low levels of cholesterol, courtesy of my ancestors.
