Topic: A Big Thank You to Tom, SweetMaria's, and the List (57 lines)
1) From: Brent - SC/TO Roasting
Just wanted to share another little step in my journey.
On Friday, August 19, I had the pleasure of meeting our host, Tom. Even
though he had let his folks go home early on a Friday (where can I get a
boss like that?), he was still around the office when I showed up to =
pick up
my order. Not having been to home base before, I wasn't sure if they =
were
open or closed. After pounding on the door, Tom was gracious, let me =
in,
let me meet the dogs, and pick up my order.
Thanks to Tom's generosity, I was able to pick up my birthday gift - a
doserless Rocky plus 20# of Uganda Bugisu. After a year of homeroasting =
and
slowly upgrading to espresso, I was able to upgrade to a Rocky. Mainly
because of info Tom supplied onlist, several other sources, a couple of
side-by-side pics of Rocky's burrs and my burrs, and a little financial =
good
luck.
Having used Rocky for a few days, I do recognize the difference between =
it
and my less-expensive grinder - particularly in relation to espresso =
(even
though the drip seems better too). Yesterday, I actually had a stalled =
pull
in my LaPavoni and got my first "sneeze". Made a great big smiley face =
on
the wall. Was very funny! Thankfully, it was easy to clean up while
laughing my rear off. The dog really thought I was nuts.
The espresso pulls are noticably better, haven't attained god status,
though. Roasted up a bunch of Bugisu today and will let it rest and try =
a
shot of it tomorrow.
So, thank you Tom for your generosity with your time and your knowledge.
Thanks to the folks at SweetMaria's for keeping us all in the greens.
Thanks to the list for all of your help over the past year in getting me
from newbie roaster to less-than-newbie roaster and newbie espresso =
geek.
The journey is a heck of a lot of fun and you're all a big part of it.
