Topic: Need advice on blending (4 msgs / 83 lines)
1) From: Bill Collings
Before finding SM I purchased quite a bit of a coffee called "Papua New
Guinea Garoka Highlands" and as you guessed am not really satisfied with it.
I seem to like SM's East African coffees and seem to love any good coffee
with a chocolate undertone. My non-SM coffee above is "OK" but seems to
mild. Any suggestions as to what to blend with it? I did find that the
darker roast seem to help it but we are light roast fans. I wondered if
this coffee with another one mixed in would make a good breakfast blend
which we like.
Thanks

Sumatra will add some body to PNG.
Monsoon Malabar will also with a bit of funk added in.
I would add 30 % to PNG

Mix and blend away. I would roast a couple that you like and mix them a bit maybe 1/4 to 3/4 ratio, brew and see how you like it.
good luck,

Try adding 25% Java, Sumatra, or Sulawesi to 75% of your PNG to
increase body--and use more coffee when you brew. I've found that a
little of any added varietal goes a long way, and that a 50-50 mix is
at best diminishing returns and at worst a washout.
