A few days ago, I roasted several batches of coffee including a batch of =
the Vietnamese UGH from SM. I was curious what Tom considered to be bad =
coffee. This morning, my wife mistakenly brewed a whole pot of this =
coffee and while I don't want another pot, I have to say that it still =
tastes better than 90% of what I get in restaurants. It is also better =
than the "Jumpstart" from company "B" that I roasted a week ago. I =
guess that my taste buds are now moving into a new range where what we =
consider bad is still better than most get. On a related note, =
yesterday my wife was out and as a "treat" she brought me a carryout cup =
from a coffee kiosk that I used to like. It had the over-roasted, harsh =
taste that Bux is famous for, though it was not their coffee. It sure =
did not take long for me to become spoiled. I can't say that you guys =
didn't warn me.

My girlfriend and I cupped 7 coffees tonight. We cupped blind, and
didn't talk throughout. Turns out we both had written that one coffee
tasted like toasted puffed rice. It was a robusta. Ick.

That's the nicest thing I've heard said about robusta beans. Usually it
'burnt rubber' or 'inner tube'. I'm sure there are some decent robustas out
there but I have not experienced any.
