Between those two I like the looks of the Brewtus II much better! Which
comes stock with a 90oz reservoir not direct plumb BTW. What I don't like
about the Brewtus is it's digital temp control is only in 1c increments, too
wide. It could of course be user mod'd with a tighter PID. I'm waiting for
Chris to bring in the new Quick Mill dual boiler to compare. Unfortunately
the previous target ETA of before Christmas isn't going happen. Chris wasn't
satisfied and is having further work done on it before bringing to market.
While I don't have upgrade fever per se', I'm hitting more walls with my PID
Silvia capabilities. Or rather learning more and finding more limitations.
I'm not talking about the normal problem of going between shots & steaming
with any single boiler non-HX machine, specifically temp stability problems
with a series of back to back shots. Measured PF temp really shoots up on
back to back shots. When doing back to back shots PF temp skyrockets
compared to top of boiler measured when idle by as much as 15f by shot 6!
I'm sure caused by more of the higher heat of boiler being transmitted and
held in the entire brew group. Re-locating the tc from the top of the boiler
to elsewhere might help, haven't tried yet. Will likely try relocating tc
when I open her up to do pressure mod, hopefully this weekend. (just ordered
some opv gaskets this morning for the mod, also order PF gauge so I don't
have to borrow Tom's (the other) again)
Greg, you'll likely want to do the pressure mod on yours too, I'll already
have your needed opv gasket (ordered 3)and gauge.

I've had up-grade-itus for a while. Just not sure what machine to
get. I'd like something that will allow me to adjust the group head
temperature (without adding my own PID), doesn't matter whether it's dual
boiler or HX, but I don't want to have to plumb in. It seems like the two
machines on the market now - Brewtus and the La Spaz, both require plumbing
in. And I have to save quite a few nickels before I could get one of them
anyway. I'm really the only one who drinks espresso at my house, so the
Gaggia is perfect for now.

Me, too. After Christmas works for me, since I'm dead broke at the moment =
-
trying to get some student loans paid off sooner rather than later so I
don't pay any more money to Sallie Mae than is dead necessary. Fortunately,
I stocked up on greens, the hottop is working great, and Christmas is
coming!
