Topic: 1 lb valve bags (4 msgs / 59 lines)
1) From: Paul Sack
Hi,
I've been using 1/4 lb valve bags (which I've found hold closer to 1/2
lb) and 1 lb foil-lined valve bags regularly. I usually use the 1/4 lb
bags for drip coffee and the 1 lb for espresso. (I drink & waste much
more espresso than drip.)
I've found that the 1 lb gold bags aren't holding up to well. Usually
around midway through their 2nd use I get a tear near the seal. I don't
think I've yet had to throw out a 1/4 lb bag. Anyone else notice this?

I've only had bags fail at the bottom--and the 1/2-pounders at that.

I haven't ordered any recently, but I have about a dozen of the 1lb
bags that I've been using for a while now... not a single problem
with any of them yet...

My problem has been with the last batch of 1/2 pound gold bags and a
few of the 1 lb gold bags. I've had to throw some of the 1/2 pound
bags away after opening them one. I figure it's a bad batch. I have
actually started using the paper bags to give coffee away and only use
the valve bags for the first 24 hrs after roasting.
