I considered using one of my Poppery units.  It already has a 3" diameter 
opening that fit's flue pipe very nicely.  The heat on the motor side though 
would melt it in no time though, so I've thought about using a 'Y" 
connection, and putting on the cold side of the flue, so the air blowing up 
the flue would pull the air from the hot flue.  It's low priority because 
the flue draws pretty well by itself.

Good point Ed.  What I forgot to mention that in my imaginary drum roaster
there is a heat gun on one end of the drum and an exhaust hole on the other
end so as not to build pressure inside the roaster.  I could also see this
air flow carrying away some of the chaff kind of like how a clothes dryer
vents while leaving the lint behind.    Jared

The convection fan from a full size convection oven would stand the heat, 
but it might be a bit pricy unless you could find someone scraping one.  It 
would probably run on 220 volts also.

DeLonghi makes a tabletop rotisserie convection oven that I considered
turning into a coffee roaster but I always ended back at the blue flames.
Maybe you could adapt the business end of a Sunpentown oven to the roasting
chamber?

My Dacor is duel fuel.  It has a gas cooktop and an electric oven.  The 
"Pure Convection" element is wrapped around the convection fan.  I am not 
sure what the fan voltage is, but the element is 220.

I think the idea of a sold drum and heat blown into a drum is a good one. 
If the drum is sealed except for the hole on both ends, I'd say the blower 
might work without a second one sucking air from the other end.  A secondary 
heat source below with maybe a propane flame would make for a clean and 
relatively chaff free roast.
Getting beans out would mean having a fast way to disengage the heat supply 
pipe and tilt the tapered drum to dump the beans.
