Do be somewhat cautious. Early on home roasting I'd order 1 or 2# size as a
"sampler". By year two was routinely ordering 5# as samplers, didn't want to
risk really liking it and then finding it gone! By year four stash peaked
exceeding 250#! There was even one 20# "sampler" leading up to realizing
need for stash reduction, but I knew it would be a winner and it was.
(Sumatra Classic lot4365) Right around same time concluded four year greens
vacuum storage test. Now try to keep not much more than a year or so greens
vac'd stash, for me that's 100-150# range. Will be right about 100# after
today's and tomorrow's roasting, just in time for some new crop Konas, and
of course 5# (sampler;-) Sumatra Batak. Still been ordering fivers of some I
know will be keepers based on Tom's reviews and my correlating my tastes,
but many new coffees back to two pounders this past year.

That was huge, and convinced me that I need 2+ pounds for a
legitimate sample of a new bean variety.

Whee! I got smart. These latter two were 5# samples
