Well, I am a list moderator! Tom asked me to keep an eye on the list. I a=
m
suppose to email him at a special email address when I think I see things
going off topic. Well we have been off topic in a number of areas. (1)
Sorry about the puppies (2) this isn't a alcohol beverage list, so let us
let this thread die. There have been personal attacks on Gin and Mike.
Where is the Christmas Spirit? There are plenty of political lists, so let
us all get back to coffee so when Tom has time to read the list he can have
smiles on his face instead of frowns! If is doesn't stop now I will send
Tom an email!

Thanks Les - I am sooooooo busy here that keeping up with the list
has been very difficult. I sorta watch the threads and scan a few ...
in fact I find myself tempted to participate, and actually hold back
because the chances I catch the replies right now are 50-50. Anyway,
thanks for stepping in. It's easier for topics to drift around the
holiday, and it is easier for people to get a little edgy - I think
we need to stay with the SPIRIT of the list - coffee - and the SPIRIT
of the season. The latter you can define for yourself, but the list
has always been about generosity, taking time to share coffee
experiences/knowledge, and getting back the same in return. Things
are finally easing up, but now I have to play catchup with some new
coffees coming in. Actually we are closed, technically. Well, the
ordering system is off now as we focus on the last of the orders and
reorganizing this place. It truly was a "Christmas Battleground".
Everyone is tired and ready for a nice week off. Me too! Maria and I
leave for Chicago Friday - I am taking the laptop to read the list,
etc.
Okay, back to work ...
Tom

Where you going to be and for how long? I'm leaving for Florida on
Tuesday. Perhaps we can pull together a Chicago welcoming committee....

I would be interested in getting together with the Chi-land crew! Any more
details on this?

One only has to monitor the alt.coffee list on usenet to see the effects
of an unmoderated list. Even if the moderators are not often visible,
they are know to exist and their presence is sufficient to maintain some
semblance of sanity amid spirited discussions. What they keep out are
the trolls and keyboard heros who usurp the purpose of the list. I
think they do an excellent job here. Back to coffee ......
