Topic: absolute last on "sinker" (35 lines)
1) From: Wandering John
I really don't want to give the hacker any more time than I have. But
I've had six off lines and figure I'll put it down one final time.
No, it wasn't me playing a joke. It was me at all. But from what we
can tell the "Sinker" character (or lurker.newbie) actually logged in
on my Gmail account; read enough from the Gmail archives or actually
used the list archive and read enough to start a troll war. The first
several posts came from lurker.newbie but the final nasty
gram came from my gmail account. I have turned the matter over to
Gmail, but doubt seriously that they give it any effort. I closed my
gmail account because Sinker has the password figured out.
I feel incredibly stupid because I violated my own rules that I imposed
as IT for a national bank. 1: change passwords every 3 months max. 2:
do not reuse a password. I fell in love with an easy to remember
letter number combination and thought it pretty secure. But I've used it
for 8 years and used it on virtually every on line account requiring a
log in. I have spent the last two days changing passwords on web
accounts. I use a very complex and often change it for my on-line
banking so its safe.
I'm now using my personal domain server to accomplish my mail exchange
with the coffee list. This program is set for plain text and coverts
everything to it.
If anyone else needs an explanation feel free to contact me off list, I
still feel the need to pay penance.
