That noise was the fan shaft bearings worn out and screeching. Have you
already tossed the Rosto? Replacement fan guaranteed to fix it. You can also
lube the shaft bearings with high temp grease for a temporary half dozen or
so roast fix.

Yep, it's gone.
I usually keep that kind of stuff around "just in case", but am trying
to get better. I figured the four or five years of two or three roasts
a week I got out of it for the hundred bucks was fair.
