Topic: new to espresso/milk drinks and I WANT A SO MACHINE! (3 msgs / 74 lines)
1) From: Ron Feroni
Well shoot, what can I say? I've been roasting now for only about 3 weeks
and am loving my coffee more and more. Now after reading this digest
everyday I want to go out and buy a stinkin' spresso' machine. I've only
had one shot of espresso in my life, and it was horrible. I do like the
milk based drinks tho, even from a *&. If *& can make a decent milk drink,
then a fresh roasted shot of espresso should make it taste even better.
So I'm thinking the La Spaziale vivaldi S1 or the Andreja premium....
Gotcha! Are you kidding? I can't blow that kind of dough for a first time
SO machine! I'm really thinking of getting just a moka pot and a milk
frother of sorts. I know this isn't true espresso, but it would be a cheap
start. Any suggestions on a moka pot and milk frother? I guess while I
have your attention, what would be a cheap noob entry spresso' machine?
Maybe I will check one out.

Get a Bialetti, and brew it over MEDIUM so you don't scorch the
coffee... This will get you moving...

Ron,
Welcome to the shoes I vacated a few months ago... I got hooked on
lattes and decided I had to have a machine. Because of my budget the
list recommended that I get the Gaggia Espresso so that I could get in
relatively cheap and be able to say that I had a true espresso machine
instead of a steam toy.
At any rate, I am quite pleased with my Gaggia and would have no
problem recommending it for others. This is most definitely an entry
level machine, but it is solid and easy to use.
