Okay, John, Randy, and all Texans within driving range of Austin, sounds
like time for another get together. This time in Austin. Someone else's
house this time, since no one came to Marble Falls last time.

That sounds great. But a little complicated in my case. My wife is
the Texan. We have a ranch about 50 miles from Austin, and her
Father has a ranch near Waco. But, we live in Atlanta. I do need to
get out there soon, but I'm not sure when, and I'm generally working
my tail off in the limited time I have there. I am tentatively
scheduled to go out for spring break, but may have one or more
students in tow.
I do like the idea though, and if you guys put something together
I'll see what I can do. This is my son's last year of high school,
and of me being tied down by all the things that go with that. So
from June on I can do whatever I want (if my wife says I can).
Take Care,
Randy

I had an email list set up for Texas roasting get together dicussions,
but the mailing list on my host apparently is not designed for
discussion groups, but mostly announcment groups.
So, I've opened up a new group at Google from where we can discuss
things. If you live in Texas or might pass through TX and want to keep
abrest of planned get togethers, you might want to consider joining the
following mailing list:http://groups.google.com/group/txcoffeeroastersYou might have to set up a Google account to access it if you don't
already have one, but it is a painless process. You don't have to have a
Google email address to use the groups functions.
As far as Sandy being in the area this coming weekend, I'm game for a
Saturday afternoon meeting, maybe around lunch time. I have to be
somewhere by about 4:00. Probably would have to leave by 3:00 from where
ever we are at. All we need is a location, house, etc. Join the group to
find out what is going on.

I am doing a showcase for GoGirls Music at 1 pm at Bella Blue, 2213
S. 1st in Austin. It is a shop, not a club, but there will be music
from 1-4 and it will be open to the public. SASS! (my duo) is playing
from 1-1:30. At 3 we will be playing a room showcase (Lilfest) back
at the Hilton downtown. The room showcases are open to the public,
though seating is of the pull-up-a-floor or grab-a-corner-of-the-bed
variety. Other showcases I'm playing, all at the Hilton:
Fri. night 1 a.m. (actually, technically Sat.)--Lilfest
Sat. 8:30 p.m.--Indiegrrl/Rose St. Concerts
Sat. 10:15 p.m.--Aurora Gorilla/Handshake Management
Sun. 11 p.m.--Lilfest
Mon. 10:45 p.m.--Aurora Gorilla (this time me solo).
I will be spending much time in the Exhibit Hall in the Convention
Center--unfortunately, open only to Folk Alliance attendees. I will
be arriving on Thurs, around rush hour, and will probably have much
of the evening free. Will also be free till 10 on Mon. night, as well
as (probably) from 6 pm Sun. (exhibit hall shuts down at 6) till abt.
10. Leaving mid-aft. on Tues. Will be staying at the Radisson near
the Hilton and Convention Center--will probably not be renting a car.

Hi Sandy, et al.
The two coffee shops in town that do their own roasting are Mozart's,
the self-described "upscale" roaster with a beautiful lakeside deck
http://www.mozartscoffee.com/Flash warning!) and Ruta Maya, the much
funkier South Austin (for those of you who know what that implies)
joint http://rutamaya.net/).I propose Mozart's for Thursday evening, since the forecast is less
cold that night, and Ruta Maya either Sunday or Monday evening.
Sunday looks like a singer/songwriter showcase and Monday is Carolyn
Wonderland, who isn't folkie but ROCKS.
Or whenever and wherever folks would like to gather.
Sandy, you're covered for rides, so don't sweat that. I get off work
near downtown around 6:00.
Looking forward,
Bill

Thursday looks best for me. I arrive a little after 3. There won't be
much going on at the conference yet--we can;t set up in the Exhibit
Hall till Friday anyway, and my singing partner won't be arriving
till very late (and will probably want to crash when she does).

Hey Randy,
I'm over in Tyler (about a 4 hr. drive) and would love to participate =
depending on the date, etc. I'm not too sure if there are very many =
home roasters over here in East Texas but this is sure a good way to =
find out. Keep my posted.

In case any of you might be able to join us, here's the current plan.
I'll pick Sandy up at her hotel after I get off work. We'll head for
Mozart's, stopping off for a bite to eat (probably Whole Foods) on the
way. (Mozart's menu only lists desserts.) After Mozart's we might go
to either Ruta Maya or Flipnotic's for music, depending on her
interest. If you'd like to connect, call me at 512-922-3714.
Hope to see you,
Bill
