Martin,
That is exactly what I use as my heat source.  I use a SS Back to Basics
popcorn popper, and I think it does a pretty good job.
Anyone else use this setup?

No. I suspect the "elegant solution" for that one might be a model for
refracting the sun's rays for further use as a heat source. The ignition of
hydrocarbons might just be too 19th century..
