Topic: type of metal for drum roasting??--what about unplated steel? (4 msgs / 161 lines)
1) From: Todd Musselwhite
Hey all...
I just recently purchased a 24"X12" (or was it 12"X24") un-planted 20 gauge
perforated (3/32" holes) sheet of metal for making a drum.
I'm planning on using a tabletop grill so I need to keep the drum on the
small size. Looking to do half pound to one pound max.
Any warnings about the type of metal? Any suggestions about the size drum?
Thanks in advance,
Todd.

It will be subject to rust. I don't know if you'll be able to do a pound.
I'm thinking your diameter will be 6-7" with a single sheet and a length
that corresponds to your tabletop grill's burner.
Cheers

My son built a 5"x 8" for me and it handles one pound with ease.
