Given the discussion about stainless steel thermos bottles causing increased brightness or some off flavor in coffee, what about stainless steel electric kettles? One qualification: This would be a metal kettle used only to boil plain water. No coffee would ever be added. Would the lack of acidic coffee chemicals result in clean tasting water, or would even plain boiled water pick up some flavors from the metal? How about water that is boiled, sits in the kettle for half a day, and is then reboiled? Does that impart a metallic tinge to the water? Cheers, Luke |
